Motor programming for Coverlight DIY motorised blinds

Once your blind is installed, follow these steps to pair your remote, set motor limits, and connect to your smart home hub.

  • Your installed motorised Coverlight blind
  • The supplied remote control
  • Optional: Zigbee-compatible smart home hub

Quick start

Get up and running in 5 minutes

Power on the motor, pair your remote, set the top and bottom limits. That’s the minimum you need before using your blind. The rest is fine-tuning.

1 Power on/off the motor

DC 5V motor only. The power switch is located on the motor itself.

  1. Power ON: switch the motor to the ON position. The red light flashes to indicate power.
  2. Power OFF: switch the motor to the OFF position.

2 Pair the remote to the motor

Method A — wired and wireless motors

  1. Press the PROG button on the motor for 1 second. The motor will jog once.
  2. Press the UP button on the remote. The motor jogs once. Remote is now paired.

Method B — wired motors

  1. Press and hold the UP button for 3 seconds.
  2. Turn the power on at the motor. The motor jogs once.
  3. Press the UP button on the remote. Motor jogs once. Remote is now paired.

3 Change direction of the motor

If the blind moves in the wrong direction (UP makes it go DOWN), use one of the methods below.

Method A

  1. Press the PROG button on the motor for 1 second. Motor jogs once.
  2. Press the DOWN button on the remote. Motor jogs once. Direction changed.

Method B

  1. Press and hold the STOP button on the remote for 8 seconds. Motor jogs once.
  2. Press the DOWN button on the remote. Motor jogs once. Direction changed.

4 Set motor limits

  1. Press the PROG button for 1 second. Motor jogs once. It’s now in limit-setting mode.
  2. Using the remote, move the blind to the desired top limit.
  3. Press the PROG button again on the remote. Motor jogs once.
  4. Using the remote, move the blind to the desired bottom limit.
  5. Press the PROG button for 1 second. Motor jogs once.
  6. Press the PROG button again on the remote. Motor jogs once. Top and bottom limits are set.

5 Set other (custom) positions

  1. Adjust the blind to the desired position.
  2. Press the PROG button on the remote for 1 second. Motor jogs once.
  3. Press the PROG button on the remote for 1 second. Motor jogs once. Position confirmed.

6 Fine tuning or adjusting limits

  1. Take the blind to the current limit position. Motor jogs once.
  2. Fine tune the blind to the desired position.
  3. Press the PROG button on the remote. Motor jogs once. Fine tuning is complete.

7 Delete a limit

  1. Run the motor to the limit you want to delete.
  2. Press the PROG button on the remote for 8 seconds. Motor jogs once after the first 1 second, then jogs again after 8 seconds. The preset limit is now deleted.

8 Jog movement & continuous movement

  1. Press the STOP button on the remote for 8 seconds. Motor jogs once.
  2. Press the STOP button again. Motor jogs once. Movement mode toggled.

9 Zigbee pairing (smart home integration)

Coverlight DIY motors integrate with Zigbee-based smart home hubs (Google Home, Alexa, etc.) so you can control them by voice or schedule.
